Write with the AI co-author

Ask the AI co-author to edit a document or database; by default, you accept or reject its suggestions. The co-author needs built-in AI, which the person who set up Stuga turns on in Settings, and you need edit access.

A document or database set to Let AI edits apply directly applies changes without waiting for review.

  1. Open the document.
  2. At the top right, open Side panels.
  3. Choose AI co-author.
  4. Type what you want, such as “add a summary at the top” or “turn the notes at the end into a table”, and choose Send.
  5. When the turn ends, the panel says how many changes it proposed. Each one shows in the document with Accept and Reject beside it, under a banner such as AI co-author proposes 2 edits.

The chat is private. Applied edits appear in the document’s version history. New chat, at the top of the panel, starts over.

  1. Select the text.
  2. Choose Edit with AI.
  3. Choose Improve, Shorten, Lengthen or Fix grammar, or describe the change and choose Edit with AI.

By default, the new wording comes back as a suggestion in place.

Above the message box, the second menu starts at This document only. Choose All documents in this workspace, or one of your collections, and the co-author can look things up there and cite them. Its sources show under its answer.

With that wider choice, it can also suggest changes to other documents you can edit. The panel names each one, and you get a notification. Each document follows its own review setting.

The first menu, Model, picks which AI answers. In a document, Attach image adds an image to your message.

Open the database, choose Side panels, and choose AI co-author. Ask for changes such as “add a Status column and mark the done rows”. By default, they wait in a banner above the table, where you choose Review each, Accept all or Reject all.

  • The co-author follows the same rule as any AI tool. If a document is set to let AI edits apply directly, its document edits go in when the turn ends. In a database, changes apply as it makes them. Each item follows its own setting. Changes stay recorded; you can undo them where possible.
  • Before every turn, it reads the instructions left for AI tools on the document and the levels above it.
  • People who can only view a document don’t get the co-author.
