Share a document

You can also share databases and folders with people. The owner and the people who look after the workspace can change who has access.

  1. In the document, choose Share at the top right. In the list of documents, it’s Share… in the row’s ⋯ menu.
  2. In Add by username, name, or group:…, type at least two letters of a name, and pick the person.
  3. Beside their name, choose what they can do: Can edit, Can comment or Can view. New people start at Can edit.
  4. Choose Save.

They get a notification, and the document appears under Shared with me in their sidebar.

You can share only with people who already have an account in this Stuga. To bring someone new in, invite them first.

To take access away, choose Remove access beside the person, then Save.

Under General access, the row naming your workspace sets what every member can do: No access, Can view or Can edit. Guests see items shared directly with them or through a share link.

A document in a folder also has a row naming that folder. Inherited means everyone who can open the folder can open the document too. Choosing No access there asks first: choose Stop inheriting, then Save to apply the change; people whose access came only from the folder lose it.

  1. Under General access, beside Anyone with the link, choose what the link allows.
  2. Choose Copy link, and send it.

Whoever opens it signs in, and joins the workspace as a guest if they weren’t a member. The link also shows in the window, in case copying doesn’t work in your browser.

They see You don’t have access and a Request access button. Choosing it sends the owner a notification. The owner opens Share and adds them.

  • For a folder or database, choose Can edit or Can view. Share folders with people or the workspace; share links are for documents and databases.
  • What new documents and folders start with is set in Settings → This workspace → General: Everyone can edit, Everyone can view or Private to creator.
