Update Stuga

For the person who set up Stuga.

By default, Stuga checks once a day. It backs up your data before an update changes it.

  1. Open Settings → This node → About. When a new version is out, About is marked in the Settings sidebar, and a banner under Updates names it.

  2. Choose Update now, then Update.

Stuga backs up, installs the update and restarts. Everyone is disconnected during the update, and the Stuga menu says Installing an update… meanwhile.

Downloading the newest Stuga.pkg and opening it does the same.

On Docker, an update is one command in the stuga folder. Read the release’s upgrade notes first. The Docker guide on GitHub, linked below, has the command. A NAS app store that updates Stuga’s images works too: Stuga backs up before it updates, whatever started it.

  • When an update fixes a security problem, the banner identifies it as a security update, and everyone who looks after Stuga also gets a notification.
  • Check for new versions is on unless you turn it off. It checks GitHub daily and sends nothing about your Stuga. Check now looks at once.
  • If this Stuga can’t reach the internet, All releases opens the list of versions in your own browser.
  • The backup an update takes is kept with Stuga’s other backups. See Back up and restore.
