Create your account and first workspace

For the person who set up Stuga.

Open the setup page

  • On a Mac, it opens by itself. If it doesn’t, click the Stuga mark in the menu bar and choose Set Up Stuga…. To set up from another computer, choose Copy Setup Link and open the link there.
  • With Docker, open the link the install command printed. If you lost it, follow the instructions on the setup page to find the code.

If the page asks for a Setup code, it was opened without the setup link; the page says where to find the code. Only whoever has the setup code can create the first account.

Create your account

  1. On Welcome to Stuga, type your Full name (optional), a Username and a Password. Stuga shows what the password needs as you type.
  2. Under Languages in your documents, add the languages you write in so search can match words; English is always on.
  3. Choose Create administrator account.

You sign in with your username. Add an email later under Settings → Profile if you like.

Create your workspace

A workspace holds documents, databases and people. You can add more workspaces later.

  1. On Create your workspace, choose Empty, Sample or Import under Start with.

    Samples need an internet connection. Imports take a Notion export, a zipped Obsidian vault or Markdown folder, or a workspace exported from Stuga (.stuga.zip).

  2. Type a Workspace name. For an import it’s optional: the workspace keeps the name it had.

  3. Under Who can use new documents?, choose Everyone can edit, Everyone can view or Private to creator. You can change each document’s sharing later.

  4. Choose Create workspace. If Stuga lists files the import will leave out, check the list before choosing Import.

Add AI now, or later

Next, Your workspace is ready offers Your AI agents, Built-in AI and Semantic search, each with Set up. All three are optional. Choose Start using Stuga when you’re done.

Later, your own AI tool is in Settings → Your AI agents, and the other two are in Settings → This node → AI providers.
