Set up Stuga for your team
For the person who set up Stuga.
Install and create your workspace
Section titled “Install and create your workspace”-
Choose where to install Stuga: on a Mac or with Docker.

Follow the installation steps on a Mac or with Docker.

Create your account and first workspace.
The first account looks after Stuga. You’re ready to write when your workspace opens.
Bring your team in
Section titled “Bring your team in”-
Check that another computer can open Stuga, as Open Stuga on other computers and phones shows.

In Settings → This workspace → Members, choose Create link and send the invite link to your team.
They open it in a browser, create an account and join the workspace.
Add AI, if you want it
Section titled “Add AI, if you want it”Documents, comments and search by words work without AI. You can add either of these later:
- Your own AI tool, in Settings → Your AI agents. See Connect Claude Desktop.
- The built-in AI for chat and answers, or search by meaning, in Settings → This node → AI providers. See Set up built-in AI and semantic search.
AI edits wait for review by default. Try asking for a small edit, then accept or reject it in the document.
Check your backups
Section titled “Check your backups”In Settings → This node → Backups, choose Back up now. Read Back up and restore before trying a restore: it puts all of Stuga back to the backup, including every workspace.
- Invite people: choose roles and when invite links expire.
- Find your way around: find documents and settings.
- Review what an AI changed: decide on suggested edits.
