Choose where to install Stuga

For the person who set up Stuga.

Use a Mac installer or Docker on a server you already look after.

For most people. You download one file, open it, and the installer does the rest, with no Terminal.

  • A Mac with an M1 chip or newer.
  • The Mac’s administrator password.
  • For a team: a Mac that stays on, on the same Wi‑Fi or wired office connection as everyone else.

A small Stuga menu in the menu bar shows the address other people open, and offers it as a QR code for phones.

Install Stuga on a Mac

For people who already run servers: a Linux server or a NAS, where you’re at home in a terminal.

  • Docker Engine or Docker Desktop with Compose, on an x86-64 or arm64 machine.
  • bash and curl on that machine.

You install it with one command, which prints the link that sets Stuga up.

Install Stuga with Docker

  • Either way, Stuga backs itself up daily by default, and before an update.
  • Either way, people use it the same: in a browser, with the same documents, databases and AI tools.
  • You can move a workspace to another Stuga later. See Move a workspace to another computer.
